What is your favorite childhood memory of your dad?
I used to have a paper route and on holidays the papers were supposed to be delivered by the early morning. One Christmas Eve night my dad suggested that we just go deliver them together so I wouldn't have to wake early. For some reason, that night is etched into my memory. Perhaps because it was snowing and the still quiet of the street made it seem like a magical night or it could be because I had his undivided attention to just talk. Either way, I can still smell the white snow and hear the quiet of just our voices.
Most poignant goal for the next five years?
Is it bad that I don't have one?
What is your favorite item of clothing?
My Rogue leather boots.
If you could stop only one injustice what would it be?
That not every kid gets to experience love and security.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Live??....that's a tough one because I LOVE our neighborhood and I
enjoy being near my family here in Oregon. So I'm pretty happy living
here. There are plenty of places I'd like to visit though.
What is your favorite thing to chew?
Interesting question, hangnails.
If you could only do one thing every day for the rest of your life what would it be?
Brush my teeth was my first thought then kiss my boys (the big one and two littles)...is that cheating?
When you think of adventure what comes to mind?
Doing anything out of the ordinary. Some of my favorite adventures
are thrill seeking activities like paragliding off of a cliff in the
Swiss Alps but I'm learning that adventure can be found in the everyday
life too; finding a new park or going up and down the escalator just for
fun. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see through my little ones' eyes
and how they teach me where to find adventures.
What is the most listened-to song on your iPod (or other music listening device)?
Probably "Cups". My six year old thought I was the coolest when I
grabbed a cup and showed him how to do the rhythm. A trick I learned one
of my many summers working at Washington Family Ranch, a Young Life
camp.
What do you wish you were better at?
Sewing. I have a machine and I love cute sewn things but I just
haven't become comfortable enough with it to do what I'd like. Threading
the machine is overwhelming enough. Ha!
How has God blessed you this week?
My husband is a teacher and Friday
was a furlough day (not a blessing but the extra day off was great.)
His fishing trip for the day was cancelled so we took an unexpected
family trip to the pumpkin patch and had such a wonderful day.
What event changed your life?
A fateful day when a deaf boy in my college computer class befriended me. Little did I know four short years later I would become a sign language interpreter and realize that was one great reason God put me on this earth.
