1. What is your favorite childhood memory of your dad?
My dad planned great vacations. It was important to him that we travel and experience as much of other places as possible. By the time I was 16 I had been to about 30 states and out of the country once. I loved every (almost every) second with my family. It almost seemed when we would end up with the "rougher" hotels or get awful service at the Chinese restaurant or end up having to walk 15 miles to get back to our cruise ship instead of take the 5 minute bus ride, we would always have the most fun. Just making fun of each other and the situation is what I love to remember about my dad.

2. Most poignant goal for the next five years?
This means sadness right!?
If that is right... I don't know, I guess it would be giving up bread. That's right. Bread. It is my ultimate weakness and one of my ultimate sacrifices. I am trying to be healthier I suppose. And no, I can't just limit myself to 1 piece. It's the whole basket of bread or none at all. None of you better judge me when you see me eating my second piece of delicious pumpkin bread at the Gathering Place though...

3. What is your favorite item of clothing?
My favorite item of clothing would have to be 3 simple, basic, loose knit t shirts. Black, grey, and a white one. They are the perfect blend of easy and soft and can be put on with just about any outfit and can make me look like I didn't wake up 5 minutes before I am supposed to be out of the door.

4. If you could stop only one injustice what would it be?
Sex trafficking. I don't think anyone would argue.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Two places if I can cheat...
I would love to live someplace where I could wake up in the mornings and just throw on a t shirt and shorts and go live a simple life and help people. I wouldn't have to care about if my hair is brushed, if my child's clothes are matching, or what I am going to do that day to keep myself busy. Just a place that needed me and my heart would need it.
I would then retire at the beach. Just a simple beach house where I could wake up, go on the patio, and drink my coffee without a three year old knocking it on my legs scorching and blistering them for the next week. (what a nice dream:))

6. What is your favorite thing to chew?
bread... refer to number 2.

7. If you could only do one thing every day for the rest of your life what would it be?
You are making me think way to hard here!!
How about camping? I would camp every day if I could.

8. When you think of adventure what comes to mind?
A week comes to mind when I think of adventure. It was a week at Canyonview adventure camp. We lived in teepees and cooked over a fire for the week. We bathed in the river and our only luxury was the outhouses. We hiked and got lost and got MAJOR poison oak and swam and it was one of the best weeks of my life.

9. What is the most listened-to song on your iPod (or other music listening device)?
I have been listening to a lot of Coldplay lately.

10. What do you wish you were better at?
Being disciplined. My sister stole it all from the gene pool and I was left with tardiness and the phrase "I was going to do this today but..."

11. How has God blessed you this week?
I am in Georgia with my family for the week!! Woohoo! The biggest blessing was that Kenny slept the whole time on BOTH of the plane rides...Thank you God for Benadryl.

12. What event changed your life?
Younglives changed my life in the best way possible. Having a child that you didn't want at a young age was hard. I mean HARD. Mentally, physically, emotionally, all of the "illy's" possible. I was sad, hurt, pissed off, and broken. My Younglife group is not just my group or my friends, they are a family for Kenny and I. I am happy today because God sent these amazing ladies (Nicole, Heidi, and Alicia) into my life to pick me up, show me what it is to be a GOOD mom, and how to get back into the Word. Being in Younglives helped me forgive and come to peace with my life. They helped me love Kenny and love Jesus again.

What is your favorite childhood memory of your dad?
I used to have a paper route and on holidays the papers were supposed to be delivered by the early morning. One Christmas Eve night my dad suggested that we just go deliver them together so I wouldn't have to wake early. For some reason, that night is etched into my memory. Perhaps because it was snowing and the still quiet of the street made it seem like a magical night or it could be because I had his undivided attention to just talk. Either way, I can still smell the white snow and hear the quiet of just our voices.

Most poignant goal for the next five years?
Is it bad that I don't have one?

What is your favorite item of clothing?
My Rogue leather boots.

If you could stop only one injustice what would it be?
That not every kid gets to experience love and security.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Live??....that's a tough one because I LOVE our neighborhood and I enjoy being near my family here in Oregon. So I'm pretty happy living here. There are plenty of places I'd like to visit though.

What is your favorite thing to chew?
Interesting question, hangnails.

If you could only do one thing every day for the rest of your life what would it be?
Brush my teeth was my first thought then kiss my boys (the big one and two littles)...is that cheating?

When you think of adventure what comes to mind?
Doing anything out of the ordinary. Some of my favorite adventures are thrill seeking activities like paragliding off of a cliff in the Swiss Alps but I'm learning that adventure can be found in the everyday life too; finding a new park or going up and down the escalator just for fun. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see through my little ones' eyes and how they teach me where to find adventures.

What is the most listened-to song on your iPod (or other music listening device)?
Probably "Cups".  My six year old thought I was the coolest when I grabbed a cup and showed him how to do the rhythm. A trick I learned one of my many summers working at Washington Family Ranch, a Young Life camp.

What do you wish you were better at?
Sewing. I have a machine and I love cute sewn things but I just haven't become comfortable enough with it to do what I'd like. Threading the machine is overwhelming enough. Ha!

How has God blessed you this week?
My husband is a teacher and Friday was a furlough day (not a blessing but the extra day off was great.) His fishing trip for the day was cancelled so we took an unexpected family trip to the pumpkin patch and had such a wonderful day.

What event changed your life?
A fateful day when a deaf boy in my college computer class befriended me. Little did I know four short years later I would become a sign language interpreter and realize that was one great reason God put me on this earth.

What is your favorite childhood memory of your dad?
A road trip just the two of us to California.  We had a camper attached to his yellow truck and I could climb through the truck back window into the camper- back before seat belt laws.  My dad had a great bushy blond beard.  And I am pretty sure he was wearing light blue skinny corduroy pants on this trip.

Most poignant goal for the next five years?
To become a licensed Marriage and Family Counselor

What is your favorite item of clothing?
My black leggings- I have always taken a liking to stretch pants

If you could stop only one injustice what would it be?
Poverty and child sex trafficking- can't choose- both weigh heavy on me

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Bonn, Germany- lived there for three years in early twenties, would go back in heartbeat.  Radler on the Rhine river- amazing (Radler = beer + Sprite)

What is your favorite thing to chew?
Trident Mint Bliss

If you could only do one thing every day for the rest of your life what would it be?
Reading (with latte AM, glass of red wine PM)

When you think of adventure what comes to mind?
Life with little kids- having the adventure now!!

What is the most listened-to song on your iPod (or other music listening device)?
Hillsong's Oceans- I listen to this over and over- also, anything Sara Groves is a close second

What do you wish you were better at?
Math- only in this season of taking a Statistics - not my gifting AT ALL!

How has God blessed you this week?
Him waiting for me in the morning on my green couch

What event changed your life?
Losing student in horrific death in youth program I was working with during summer of college.  Walking mother and community through grief.  First experience of vulnerability with deep pain.  God used this experience in my calling of becoming a counselor.
